Mario Ricciardi Memorial Award
for the Best Scientific Paper – 4th Edition

AILE is pleased to announce the Fourth Edition of Mario Ricciardi
Memorial Award, consisting of two prizes recognizing the Best Scientific Paper
on topics related to Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH).
The Award aims to recognize outstanding original scientific contributions
published during the 2024–2025 period.

Eligibility

Applications are invited for original research articles published in peer-reviewed journals indexed with an Impact Factor. To be eligible, the Corresponding Author or First Author must be an early-career investigator who is younger than 45 years of age on the application deadline.

For the purpose of determining eligibility, the publication date will be the online first publication date, where available. If no online publication date is available, the date of the print publication will be used.

Review articles, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and other literature reviews are not eligible. Only original research articles reporting novel scientific findings will be considered.

Award

Two prizes will be awarded:

First Prize: € 2,000

Second Prize: €1,500

The awards are intended to support the recipients’ scientific and professional development. Prize funds may be used to cover participation in scientific meetings, congresses, workshops, training courses, or other educational activities, as well as the purchase of laboratory equipment, consumables, reagents, or other materials that support ongoing research.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted by the eligible author and should include:

  • the published article in PDF format;
  • the completed application form;
  • a copy of a valid identification document.

Applications must be submitted by 30 September 2026 using one of the following methods:

Online: by completing the application form available here on the AILE website and uploading the required documents.

By email: by sending all required documents to premioricerca@aileonlus.eu with the subject line “Application – Best Scientific Paper Award.”

Applications that are incomplete or received after the deadline will not be considered.

Evaluation


All eligible applications will be reviewed by the AILE Scientific Committee. Evaluation will be based on the scientific quality and bibliometric indicators of the publication, including the Journal Impact Factor and related metrics from Journal Citation Reports (JCR) and Scopus, together with the applicant’s authorship position and corresponding author status.

In the event of a tie, the relevant prize will be shared equally among the eligible recipients.

Results


The final ranking approved by the AILE Scientific Committee will be published on the AILE website on 25th November 2026.
